How to grow seedlings of peppers, strawberries, petunias on a "snail". By making a hydroponic attachment, you can grow greens at home all year round! Every farmer wants his work to be crowned with success, and he gets excellent yields. The end result consists of several factors, this is the correct cultivation of seedlings, planting them in the optimal place, full care. Original ideas for a vegetable garden for growing various crops from seedlings will simplify the work of farmers, will allow you to get a lot of pleasure and benefit from it.

How to grow snail seedlings?

Seedlings on the windowsill
Seedlings on the windowsill

A unique idea will increase the germination of seeds, save space for seedlings on the windowsill, and facilitate the care of seedlings.

Of course, the snail will not be real, this is the name of the structure twisted according to this principle. Moreover, you can use the land for this or do without it at all. If you do not have soil for seedlings at hand, and the deadlines are running out, it is time to plant, then use the landless "snail" technology.

To do this, you need:

  • toilet paper;
  • garbage bags;
  • water;
  • if there is, then the growth stimulator "Epin" or aloe juice;
  • spray;
  • stationery elastic;
  • small capacity;
  • scissors.

  1. Unwind the tape of toilet paper, cut a strip of the same width from the garbage bag. Put toilet paper on it, moisten from a spray bottle with a solution prepared from 3 drops of Epin and 500 ml of water or aloe juice. Stepping back 1–1.5 cm from the top, spread the seeds at a distance of 3 cm from each other.
  2. Now, starting from a loose fit, roll both layers (polyethylene and toilet paper) into a roll. Secure this structure with an elastic band, place it in a container of a suitable size so that the seeds are at the top.
  3. You can place a roll of paper and film in a cut plastic bottle. Put a plastic bag on top of the container, there should be air in it, and secure it with an elastic band from below.
  4. First, place this roll in a warm place, such as under a radiator or on top of a kitchen cabinet. As soon as 1-2 shoots loops appear, immediately place the structure on a light windowsill. Do not remove the transparent plastic bag from the top just yet so that the rest of the sprouts will hatch as well. Then you can remove it.
  5. This method of growing seedlings will help increase seed germination. When the second true leaf appears on the seedlings, carefully transplant them into separate containers with earth.

If this is how you plant pepper seeds for seedlings, tomatoes, eggplant, nigella onions, this design will be very successful for them. If you are thinking how to grow strawberries from seeds so that petunia seedlings are successful at home, then you need to use the principle of construction with the ground.

Of course, you can also grow seedlings of peppers, eggplants, cabbage, tomatoes and other vegetables in an earthen "snail".

Earthen snail

To do this, take:

  • tray;
  • seedling soil;
  • a backing for a laminate;
  • Epin;
  • seeds;
  • scissors;
  • spoon;
  • brush for small seeds;
  • plate.
Formation of an earthen snail
Formation of an earthen snail
  1. Cut a tape 10 cm wide from the backing and place it on a tray. Sprinkle a small area with fertile soil so that the layer thickness is 1–1.5 cm.
  2. Wrap this part in a roll, now put the same layer of soil on the next piece. Roll up the structure further with a snail, gradually pouring earth onto the substrate. Secure this roll with a rubber band. Place the resulting snail vertically in a suitable container, pour water on top, wait until it is absorbed.
  3. The seeds can now be planted. If it will be seedlings of tomatoes, peppers, other vegetables, then maintain a distance between the seeds of 3 cm. This is in case you do not dive it. But eggplants and peppers do not like to be disturbed once again. Therefore, it is better to grow seedlings of these crops without picking. In this case, the distance between the seeds is 5–7 cm.
  4. Now sprinkle the seeds on top with not waterlogged soil so that a soil crust does not form.

When you fill in the soil, step back 2 cm from the top so that there is room for adding soil.

  1. If you want to sow petunias for seedlings, as well as lobelia, strawberries, strawberries, then proceed a little differently.
  2. Also roll up the backing paper. Pour it over with water with the addition of Epin (3 drops per 500 ml of water). Then the seeds must be sown superficially, without sprinkling with earth. So the seedlings will better break through and germinate these seeds in the light.
  3. Put them on a dry plate, take with a brush, and lay them on the surface of the soil. Using the same tool, distribute them evenly.
  4. You just need to cover the structure with a bag, tie it with an elastic band and immediately put it in a bright, warm place.

Planting seeds in a jar or on a cloth at home

Check out two more fun ways to grow seedlings. The first is ideal for germinating small seeds.

Growing in banks
Growing in banks

Take:

  • glass jars with a capacity of 500 ml;
  • some white non-woven fabric;
  • stationery rubber bands;
  • seedling soil;
  • water;
  • seeds;
  • transparent plastic bag;
  • vermiculite.

Rinse the jars, put a layer of vermiculite 2-3 cm high on the bottom, and on it - soil for seedlings.

To sterilize containers and soil, place glass containers filled with soil in the microwave. Or you can pre-steam the soil.

  1. Spill the earth in jars. Spread the seeds evenly on the surface. Use a wooden skewer or similar object to distribute them at approximately the same distance from each other. If these are plant seeds that germinate in the light, then do not sprinkle them with soil yet.
  2. Cut squares out of the nonwoven fabric to cover the neck of each can. Secure with rubber bands.
  3. When the seedlings appear and begin to grow, periodically sprinkle a little earth on them to close the bare roots. In order not to cover the leaves, after this procedure, sprinkle them with a small amount of water from a spray bottle.

If the seedlings began to fall, stop watering them, sprinkle with crushed coal. You can grind it with a crush or blender. One more know-how can be added to this device.

  1. To make it easier to get the seedlings along with a clod of earth, when it's time to dive, put a small soft bag in the jar. They sell kefir and milk. At the same time, place it with the black film facing out.
  2. Make small holes in the bag for the water to drain. Cut the edges of the film flush with the ground so that it does not obscure the seedlings. You can more easily get this internal structure when the need arises, if you leave a small strip 1 cm wide on the film on both sides. It will be enough to pull on them, and you will remove the seedlings from the jar along with a clod of earth.

There is another interesting way concerning how to sow seeds for seedlings.

To bring it to life, you will need:

  • plastic bottle;
  • toilet paper;
  • water with a growth stimulant diluted in it;
  • seeds;
  • scissors;
  • knife.

Sowing instructions:

  1. Carefully cut the plastic bottle in half lengthwise. Thus, you get two mini greenhouses at once. Or you can use both pieces on one, the other as a lid.
  2. Unwind the toilet paper, place it on the bottle. You will need 3-5 of these layers. Moisten this base with Epin's water solution from a spray bottle, place the seeds on top, pressing them slightly against the paper so that they also become wet.
  3. Now you can cover the mini greenhouse with the second half of the bottle, connect the parts with tape. Or put a transparent plastic bag on the half of the bottle, tie it so that the oxygen necessary for seedlings remains inside.
  4. You will only have to watch when the first seedlings appear, immediately put this structure closer to the light.
Sowing seeds in a bag

You can put toilet paper not only in a bottle this way, but also in a plastic or glass container. It is very convenient if you cover such a container with shoe covers. They are elastic and will hold well. But since the shoe covers are not very transparent, after the first shoots appear, you need to remove them and replace them with transparent film or non-woven material.

If you are thinking of planting carrots so that you do less work on subsequent thinning, consider this method. Prepare a paste from starch and water, apply it pointwise on a strip of toilet paper, apply seeds here. When the glue is dry, roll the paper into a roll, inside with seeds, remove.

When the time comes to plant carrots, then you lower this tape, unwinding it, into the groove previously made on the garden bed, moisten it, sprinkle it with a small layer of earth. Seedlings will appear at an optimal distance from each other.

  1. Seedlings of cabbage and other vegetable crops will feel great when you cut them into separate containers. But not always such in abundance in the spring. Therefore, you can use small plastic bags or plastic wrap.
  2. For the latter method, you need to cut it into rectangles about the size of a notebook sheet. Put a tablespoon of soil on the corner of the film, place the plant you want to dive here. In this case, the cotyledonous leaves should be above the upper edge of the film.
  3. Put some more earth on the spine, wrap the bottom of the film, roll it into a roll, as if wrapping the plant. It is not for nothing that this method of growing seedlings is called diaper.
  4. Cut off a piece of adhesive plaster, a pen and write the name of the variety, attach it to the outside of the container. Place the containers created in this way on a tray or on a plastic pallet.

How to grow greens in winter hydroponically?

But first, let's continue the topic started earlier, hydroponics will allow you to quickly germinate seeds for strong seedlings. To create a device for this, you will need:

  • sewer pipe with a diameter of 10 cm and a length of 1 m 40 cm;
  • pipe connector;
  • two plugs;
  • compressor for aquariums;
  • pots with a diameter of 10 cm;
  • check valve;
  • connecting tubes;
  • air diffuser;
  • daily timer.

Using a round drill bit, make holes in the pipe at the same distance.

The pots must be prepared in such a way that water and oxygen are available to the plant roots. To do this, make a lot of holes in them with a drill around the entire perimeter.

When you put containers in the holes in the pipe, the required amount of water and oxygen will flow here. Need to grow cucumber seedlings using a hydroponic system to germinate seeds? Then take:

  • plastic pots or disposable cups;
  • knife or drill;
  • expanded clay;
  • cotton pads;
  • cucumber seeds.

You already know how to make holes in a pot with a drill. If you are using plastic disposable cups, then use a knife to cut the strips along the container. Put a little expanded clay down, place a cotton pad on top, sprinkle seeds on it. Moisten the disc with water, lay another layer of expanded clay on top.

Such cups must be placed in the holes made in the pipe. After 4 days, the cucumber seedlings will look something like this. You just need to carefully separate the plants from each other, each will have a small piece of cotton pad. They do not need to be removed in order not to damage the root system.

Potassium humate at the bottom of the pot

If you plan to grow greens at home in the winter, then there is another idea that you can take on board. For her you will need:

  • purchased salad, basil, parsley, lemon balm in pots;
  • plastic five-liter bucket;
  • water;
  • plastic bottles;
  • knife;
  • potassium humate;
  • aquarium compressor and nozzles for it.

Take the bottle, cut its neck to the shoulders so that you can put this short part in the longer one with the neck down.

Blank from a plastic bottle
Blank from a plastic bottle

You need to put a pot of herbs here, pour so much water that it completely covers it. Top up as it evaporates. In this position, the pot should stand until new light roots appear from below. Then you need to free the plant from it, put it in a larger glass or other container. Make stripes in cups, round in pots.

Now let's start preparing the bucket. Cut holes in the lid of such a diameter so that your pots or cups will fit in them, but their upper part is kept on the lid. Inside, you will pour water into the bucket, you will periodically feed the plants with potassium humate.

Greens in a bucket

In the bucket you need to bring two tubes connected by an adapter. You insert them into the compressor, you will turn it on for 15–20 hours. This is how you can grow greens in the winter in an apartment. If you have your own summer cottage, dig up root parsley, basil, lemon balm in the fall, grow in this way in hydroponics. With backlighting, you will receive fresh greens until the next harvest.

If you are interested in this method of growing vegetables, then watch the story, which covers the above in more detail.

From the second you will learn how to plant peppers in a snail, you can better understand this principle of growing seedlings.
