Find out if bodybuilding training really develops such a terrible disease or is it side effects caused by anabolic steroids. Scientists devote a lot of attention and time to studying the effects of physical activity in various diseases of the heart or, say, the respiratory system, but practically did not study the relationship between kidney failure and bodybuilding.

But, despite this, there is a lot of data on the increase in physical performance, the growth of muscle mass and the improvement in the condition of people suffering from chronic renal failure. Of greatest value in this context is information on muscle preservation when using a diet low in protein compounds. Thus, scientists recommend using moderate physical activity for this disease.

Kidney Failure Nutrition Program

Chronic kidney failure is a complex of symptoms caused by severe, irreversible damage to the kidneys. This disease should not be reduced only to impaired renal function and toxic effects on the body of protein metabolites.

In case of impaired renal function in the body, the water and electrolyte balance is disturbed, as well as other metabolic disorders. For this reason, the main goal of conservative therapy for this serious disease is to normalize fluid and electrolyte balance. In this regard, the correct nutritional program takes the lead. The level of nitrogen metabolism metabolites (creatine, urea, etc.), as well as their integral indicators, directly depends on the amount of protein compounds consumed, the degree of renal failure and the rate of protein metabolism. When organizing dietary nutrition in conditions of renal failure, it is necessary to adhere to the following principles:

  • Depending on the severity of the disease, limit the daily protein intake to 20-60 grams.
  • The necessary calorie intake should be provided through carbohydrates and fats.
  • Use vitamin and mineral complexes.
  • In the presence of hypertension, salt and water intake should be reduced, while maintaining normal water and electrolyte balance in the body.

Since with a strong reduction in protein in the diet, the body's ability to synthesize various antibodies and hormones is simultaneously limited, it is necessary to accurately determine the required amount of protein compounds and prevent the breakdown of tissue proteins. Today, the Institute of Nutrition at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences has developed two types of dietary nutrition programs - diets No. 7a and No. 7b. Diet food program No. 7a has a fairly strong restriction in the intake of essential amines and for this reason it should be used for 15 to 18 days. The nutritional program No. 7b provides the body's need for all important amino acid compounds.
