Contraindications and harm to oat seedlings

Any sprouts are useful, but for the majority it is undoubtedly a new product, which imposes some restrictions on its use. All new foods should be introduced gradually into the diet.

In order to avoid this or that unpleasant symptomatology, it is better to start using them with 1 teaspoon per day, then gradually the dose can be increased, however, you should not eat more than 60-70 grams of seedlings per day. Also, before introducing sprouted grains into your diet, you should understand that this product, no matter how useful it is, has contraindications. Unfortunately, the people to whom they apply are not destined to experience the beneficial effects of the product.

Oat seedlings can harm people with diseases of the digestive and urinary system. In the first case, the presence of a large amount of fiber in the composition can have a negative effect, which is good for a healthy body, but bad for a patient. In the second case, the problem lies, again, for healthy people in a useful diuretic effect. For those who have problems with the organs of the urinary system, especially if urolithiasis is present, this effect can provoke severe pain when the stones move.

Officially, it is not recommended to eat sprouts not only of oats, but also other children under 12 years old. They supposedly contain a lot of phytic acid, which can have an adverse effect on bone development. However, adherents of a healthy diet adhere to a different position, saying that the product is balanced and rich in calcium, and phytic acid is destroyed during germination, and therefore, on the contrary, it is necessary to eat it for children, especially during the period of intensive growth and change of teeth.

Of course, it is forbidden to eat seedlings with individual intolerance to the components. If the use of a product causes you one or another unpleasant symptomatology, you better refuse it.

Finally, it should be said that low-quality grains or, even worse, treated with chemicals can seriously harm even the healthiest organism. Fortunately, it is usually easy to sift out such grains, you need to fill them with water, and all the bad seeds will float up.

Note! If you have a serious medical condition, consult your doctor about eating sprouts.

How to sprout oats?

Ready-made sprouts can be purchased at health food stores, pharmacies and even large supermarkets, however, we would not recommend buying a finished product, because it is very easy to prepare it yourself. And most importantly, you will be sure of the quality and compliance with storage conditions.

So how do you sprout oats? Let's figure it out:

  • First of all, you need to buy the right seeds - only so-called naked oats are suitable for germination. Be careful when buying.
  • Then we arrange a "general cleaning", carefully sort out and wash the grains. Then we transfer it to a bowl, fill it with a weak manganese solution (this is necessary for disinfection) and immediately remove the floating seeds. We marinate good grains for 3-5 minutes, then rinse again.
  • Now we fill the grains with water at room temperature (there should be a lot of it, at least twice as much as oats), leave for 12-14 hours.
  • We drain the water, rinse the grains, put them in a dish made of natural material - a glass jar is well suited, we close it with a plastic lid in which holes are made. We leave for a day at a temperature of 20-23 degrees.

The first shoots should appear in 24 hours, but the seeds may germinate later. However, if there is no “harvest” for more than 3 days, this means that the oats were bad or unsuitable, it makes no sense to wait for germination any longer, even if something grows, there will be no benefit.

Note! You can store seedlings only in the refrigerator and no more than 3 days.
