Pour in water and cook the soup after boiling over low heat until the potatoes are half cooked. At the end of cooking, remove the chipped onion from the pan and discard it, since it will already do its job - it will give away the aroma and taste. However, if you like frying onion in your soup, then cook it and cook potatoes with sautéed onions.
