Mango is a delicious exotic fruit with juicy pulp. Its mere mention evokes the imagination of warm countries with blue warm seas, hot white sand, tanned faces and fruit cocktails with a straw. Juicy and aromatic, it is especially good fresh. But it is also used to prepare various dishes: juices, sauces, mashed potatoes, salads, marinades … However, for this you must first get to the pulp, which is not so easy, even despite the thin skin. In order to beautifully and correctly peel and cut the fruit into slices, it is enough to know some of the features, which we will talk about below. But before that, you first need to choose the right fruit.

  • Smell the fruit. Ripe mango gives off a strong spicy aroma. Moreover, the more ripe it is, the stronger the smell, especially in the tail. Unripe fruit does not smell at all.
  • The peel of a ripe fruit should be smooth and shiny, without dents, depressions or defects.
  • The color of the peel can be red, yellow, green, yellow-green, and sometimes purple.
  • The pulp of a ripe fruit is fibrous, yellow or orange.
  • To identify a ripe fruit, press down on it - it should be soft but firm.
  • Mango weighs, as a rule, 200-300 g. But there are large fruits weighing 400-500 g.
  • There is a large flat bone inside the pulp.
  • A ripe cut mango is stored in the refrigerator for about 2 days. Store whole fruit at room temperature.

There are also alternative ways to cut the mango into cubes or diamonds. You can find a detailed recipe with a photo on the pages of the site using the search bar.

If the mango is very ripe and soft, it will not be easy to peel it by any means. Eat such a mango with a spoon, scooping the pulp from the peel-plate. To do this, cut the fruit around the bone with a knife, cutting the flesh to the bone. Divide the fruit in half and eat it with a spoon. Since the fruit is extremely juicy, do this on a plate.
