  • Pumpkin - 200 g
  • Butter - 15 g
  • Milk - 300 ml
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Raisins - one zhmenya
  • Pearl barley - 100 g
  • Honey - 2-3 tablespoons

1. Wash the pearl barley grains under running water and soak in cold water for half an hour.

2. Drain and fill the cereal with fresh clean water. The volume of water should be 2.5-3 times greater than that of cereals, i.e. for 1 tbsp. cereals need 2, 5-3 tbsp. water. Add a pinch of salt and boil the cereal until tender, i.e. softness. Barley is brewed for about 45 minutes.

3. Peel the pumpkin, dragging and seeds. Wash the pulp and cut into medium sized pieces. Cover it with water and cook until soft, about 20 minutes. The finer the vegetable is cut, the faster it will cook.

4. When the pumpkin is ready, drain all the liquid and add the pearl barley porridge. If desired, the pumpkin can be mashed using a pusher or blender.

5. Next, add the washed raisins to the pan.

6. Pour milk over the food and place on the stove to cook. After boiling, reduce the temperature to the minimum setting and cook the porridge for 15 minutes under the lid.

7. Then add the butter to the dish.
