6. Next, proceed to cooking. This requires a large saucepan. Since the milk takes several hours to cook, the water will inevitably boil away. If you need to add it, then only hot water. But this process is quite troublesome. Therefore, it is better to immediately take a large container for cooking so that there is enough water for the entire cooking time.

If you still have to pour boiling water, then in no case pour it directly onto the jar. Try to get into the gap between the container and the wall of the dish. This will reduce the temperature contrast. If part of the can is not covered with water and is not refilled in time, then the condensed milk will inevitably explode and severely stain the kitchen.

7. So, having decided on the pan, put a can of condensed milk in it and fill it with water so that it is at least 5-7 cm higher than the level. Put it on the stove and turn on a strong fire. After boiling water, reduce the gas and cook the milk for the required number of hours. If you need to cook two cans at once, then put a silicone mat on the bottom of the pan so that they do not roll and do not come into contact with each other.

8. Condensed milk can be cooked in a jar for a different amount of time. The specific cooking time directly depends on the fat content of the raw material. For example, milk with a fat content of 8-8.5% will be ready in 1.5-2 hours, more than 8.5% in 2-2.5 hours. The higher the fat content, the longer the condensed milk will cook. You can see the fat content of the milk you bought on the label.

Also, orientate not the following indicators of boiling condensed milk in a can with a fat content of 8.5%. After 1 hour of cooking, the condensed milk will be liquid and beige, 2 hours - it will acquire a medium density and light brown color, 3 hours - it will become thick and brown, 4 hours - it will turn into a dense clot of chocolate color.

After a certain time, turn off the stove and leave the jar in water until it cools completely. You do not need to transfer it to cold water. Otherwise, the bank may burst. Open a chilled can of boiled condensed milk and enjoy the excellent taste!

Note: Condensed milk can be cooked not only on the stove in a saucepan, but also in other appliances.

  • In a pressure cooker, the cooking process will not be much faster than in a saucepan. But on the other hand, protect the kitchen as much as possible from the explosion of the can, and you will not need to worry about the boiled water. To do this, put water in a pressure cooker, put condensed milk in it, boil it and turn off the heat after 15 minutes. The lid must be tightly closed. Wait for the water to cool. Condensed milk will cook in a pressure cooker for at least 3 hours.
  • In the microwave. Open the jar, put the condensed milk in a microwave oven and put in the oven. Set the temperature to maximum and cook for 2 minutes. Stir and cook again for another 2 minutes. Repeat this procedure 4 times. In this case, the condensed milk will be ready in 10 minutes. But its taste will be slightly different.
  • In a slow cooker. Place the jar horizontally in a bowl and fill it with water so that it completely covers the condensed milk. Turn on the boil mode and wait for the water to boil. After that, switch the multicooker to the "Stew" mode and cook the milk for 3 hours.
