Find out what consequences can arise if you use high dosages of anabolic steroids against the background of long courses. Today, AAS is considered to be the most effective means for enhancing athletic performance. Steroids were created for use in traditional medicine, in particular for hormone replacement therapy. However, they very quickly entered the sport and took root here. When using anabolic steroids in small dosages, they do not pose a danger to the body.

Unfortunately, athletes use doses that exceed therapeutic doses dozens of times. No one has tested the effects of exposure to the body of such amounts of AAS and for this reason they can pose a serious danger. Today we will talk about the dangers of anabolic steroid overdose in bodybuilding.

How do AAS affect the body?

Every anabolic drug, among other things, like any other medicine, has side effects. Conceptionally, they can cause irreparable harm to health, but athletes do not think about it. It is one thing when it comes to professionals getting paid for their performances and quite another when they are used by amateurs.

Athletes use steroids, as they are confident that with their help they will be able to gain a lot of mass and significantly increase their physical parameters. In this case, it is necessary to use anabolic steroids in large quantities. However, animal experiments prove otherwise. A significant excess of AAS doses does not allow obtaining significantly better results. The differences are minimal. Thus, we can say that to gain weight, it is enough to use drugs in minimal dosages, combining their use with the correct nutrition program and training.

Scientists have found that very often anabolic steroids affect the psyche of an athlete, forcing him to train more aggressively. As a result, frequent injuries occur, which is already a negative point in the use of steroids.

It should be noted that steroids cannot provide a permanent increase in muscle mass. This is due to the fact that AAS in the body is constantly balancing between catabolic (destruction) and anabolic (creation) reactions. If there are no steroids in the body, then homeostasis is maintained and tissues are constantly renewed.

First of all, this balance is associated with nitrogen, or rather, its homeostasis. Simply put, in a normal state, an adult produces and consumes approximately the same amount of nitrogen, and sometimes the balance is slightly shifted in the positive direction.

After the introduction of steroids, anabolic processes begin to prevail over catabolic processes, which leads to a gain in mass. But for muscle to grow constantly, you need to maintain a positive nitrogen balance. Let's find out what is happening in the body at this moment.

Under the influence of power loads, glucorticosteroids are actively synthesized in the body, shifting the nitrogen balance in a negative direction. After completing the training, this balance becomes positive and it is at this moment that the muscle tissue grows. Note that these processes are rather slow. After starting the use of AAS, the nitrogen balance is artificially shifted in a positive direction and muscle tissue increases in size much faster. But after a maximum of two months, this effect begins to decline sharply, and even with an increase in the dose of anabolic steroids, you will not be able to achieve the same effectiveness. The body simply gets used to AAS, and they become ineffective.

You probably know that steroids are used in sports in cycles of varying duration. The dosages used are usually high and after the cessation of the use of these drugs, all systems of the body suffer. Anyone who has used steroids is familiar with the consequences of drug withdrawal. Now we are not talking about the rollback effect, when a certain part of the gained mass is lost.

First of all, we are talking about the suppression of the working capacity of the pituitary axis and the disruption of the activity of all body systems. To avoid this, some athletes may use bridges. This technique consists in the use of small doses of light AAS, which, according to the builders, should "revive" the receptors. But in practice, this only aggravates the situation, since the androgen-type receptors do not rest.

Anabolics, and especially pills, pose a great danger to the liver, and this is confirmed in the course of scientific research. Very often you can find information that the use of hepatoprotectors can help in solving this problem. However, this is not true, since the liver is very vulnerable to chemical toxins and with prolonged use of large doses of AAS, no cleansing or drugs can cope with organ damage.

Steroids inhibit the performance of the immune system. This can be confirmed by "chemists". Very often, during and after steroid cycles, a simple slight hypothermia of the body can cause a cold. In a normal situation, the body would cope with this without too many problems.

Most anabolic steroids shift the balance of cholesterol towards low density lipoproteins, which as a result leads to the formation of plaques on the vessels. This can result in a complete blockage of blood vessels.

We have already briefly mentioned the inhibition of the working capacity of the pituitary arch. This topic is well known to athletes as it receives a lot of attention. When performing powerful AAS cycles, athletes even use gonadotropin to prevent testicular atrophy. By the way, if this drug (the same hormonal) is not used correctly, it will only worsen the situation. You should not believe the claims that there are anabolic steroids that are not capable of negatively affecting the endocrine system, as this is a lie.

Likewise, do not believe the assurances that gynecomastia is reversible. This disease can develop for a long time, accumulating with each new cycle. As a result, the operation cannot be avoided.

The use of steroids is very difficult and dangerous enough not to be told about it. You should always keep this in mind.
