Ingredients:

  • Herring - 1 pc.
  • Beets - 1 pc. (large)
  • Potatoes - 2 pcs. (large)
  • Onions - 1 pc.
  • Carrots - 3-4 pcs. (average)
  • Mayonnaise - 250 g
  • Vinegar - 1 tsp for boiling beets
  • Salt to taste (for cooking vegetables)

First, boil the potatoes and carrots in salted water. This can be done in one saucepan, since they have about the same cooking time - 40 minutes. Then let the vegetables cool completely.

Also place the beets on the stove. Add salt to a saucepan and pour vinegar, this will prevent the vegetable from discoloration. Beets are cooked for about 2 hours. After that, it should be completely cooled.

Since vegetables will cool for a long time, I recommend boiling them in advance, for example, in the evening.

Now get down to shaping the "Herring under a fur coat" salad with a roll. Wrap the mat (bamboo mat) with cling film. If you don't have one, you can use baking paper.
