One fish - one full serving right away with a side dish of baked potatoes. Baked mackerel is perfect for a family lunch and dinner for the whole family. Children even eat it with pleasure. You can diversify the side dish by adding other vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini, eggplants, green beans … Note that mackerel can be baked in pieces or whole.

For the dish, you will need fresh frozen mackerel, which must be defrosted in advance at room temperature, without using a microwave oven and cold water. Slow defrosting will retain all the beneficial properties of the fish.

  • Soy sauce - 1, 5 tablespoons
  • Ground black pepper - a pinch
  • Seasoning for fish - 0.5 tsp
  • Potatoes - 2 pcs.

1. Defrost mackerel at room temperature, wash and dry with a paper towel. Cut off the head and remove the entrails. Cut off the tail fins, if desired. Wash the carcass again, especially wash the inside very well and remove the black film from the tummy.

2. Cut the fish into 4-5 pieces. But you can leave it entirely. However, sliced fish is more convenient to eat.

3. Cut a piece of the appropriate size from the foil roll to hold the whole fish. Place the mackerel on top of it and season with the fish spice.

Peel the potatoes, wash, dry and cut into wedges. Arrange the potato wedges around the fish.

Season food with salt and black pepper and top with soy sauce. Due to the fact that the sauce is salty, I advise you to salt the food a little less. Optionally, for juiciness, you can grease the fish with mayonnaise or sour cream.

4. Wrap the fish tightly in foil so that there are no empty spots. Send the mackerel with potatoes in foil to a preheated oven to 180 degrees and bake for 30-40 minutes.

Serve the dish in foil, and if you plan to serve the food not immediately after baking, do not unfold the foil mackerel. It will keep the food warm for longer.
