What is the procedure for extending eyelashes, how to extend them at home, especially the choice of materials, tools and methods of carrying out. Eyelash extensions are about adding length and volume to natural eyelashes using artificial ones. A few years ago, such a cosmetic service was considered something exotic, but today every second woman has dealt with extended or glued eyelashes. The procedure is inexpensive, takes little time, is completely painless, and can be done even at home.

Selection of materials for eyelash extension

The materials used in such a delicate procedure must be of the highest quality, otherwise you can infect or cause an allergic reaction. Fortunately, today eyelash extension masters have no shortage of professional materials. Those who do eyelash extensions on their own can purchase quality products in specialty stores.

Eyelash Extension Glue

Good expensive glue is of great importance, since the final result of the work depends on its quality. Cosmetic stores delight with a variety of eyelash glue, which can be selected by manufacturer, composition and price. To choose a high-quality glue, you should pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • Antiallergenicity … Each adhesive manufacturer in its composition must indicate the quality of the resin used. The glue is made from resin, and the resin is made from latex. If you are allergic to any of these ingredients, then you should not extend eyelashes with such a composition.
  • Desired consistency … Professional glue for eyelashes should be monotonous and liquid so that after the extension there are no lumps and the eyelashes look more natural.
  • Lack of unpleasant odors … High-quality glue should not have a pronounced pungent odor, although it is considered chemistry. Unpleasant odors and vapors can irritate the mucous membrane of the eyes during operation.
  • Colour … Modern fake eyelashes, which are extended with glue, come in a variety of colors. In order for the eyelashes to be in harmony with the main image, you should choose the color of the glue. Dark eyelashes can be emphasized favorably with a dark adhesive that will act as an eyeliner. If the eyelashes are light, you can use a transparent substance that is not visible at all. Colorless glue makes it possible to experiment with bright makeup looks (colored shadows, bright eyeliner, etc.).
  • Persistence and adhesion … High-quality glue for eyelash extension must have a high level of resistance to external irritants during use. Adhesion (adhesion) must also be fast and of good quality. It is worth noting that the average level of durability should last from 10 to 45 days, and the time for gluing the eyelashes should be no more than 3 minutes. Fast adhesion avoids cilia sticking together.

There are different types of glue that professional cosmetologists choose based on their experience and speed of work. So, there are several types of adhesive for eyelash extension:

  1. Glue for beginners … It has the slowest coupling speed - 4 seconds, during this time the novice master must have time to glue the eyelash. The durability of the glue is enough for 4 weeks.
  2. Adhesive for craftsmen with average experience … This glue adheres in 2 seconds and lasts up to 6 weeks. This type of glue can be used by masters who already have experience in eyelash extension, confidently wield tweezers, their hands do not tremble and quickly do their job.
  3. Adhesive for professionals … This type has a lightning hitch and is worn for up to 8 weeks. Many manufacturing firms have several types of professional glue in their assortment.

There is also a special anti-allergenic adhesive available. It is used for people with a tendency to allergies and sensitive eye skin. This type contains a minimum of harmful fumes, so you can glue eyelashes even with open eyes. The disadvantages of antiallergenic glue are long-term adhesion (up to 4 seconds) and a short wear period (2-3 weeks). At home extension it is better to use glue for beginners, which has a slow gluing speed, which gives time to "aim" and correctly position the eyelash. If there is not enough confidence, then it is better to use anti-allergic glue, if it gets into the eye, there will be less irritation and redness.

Many brands produce glue for eyelash extension at home, these include Sky, Vivienne, Duo, IB, Mirage, Ardell, Lidan and others.

Artificial eyelashes for extension

It is important to choose the right not only glue, but also eyelashes for extension. Experts use PBT polyester eyelashes in their work.

Cilia made of this material differ in length and thickness. In this case, the length can be up to 20 mm, and the thickness - up to 0.3 mm. In addition, artificial eyelashes have a characteristic such as the degree of curl, which is indicated by different letters.

In the process of extension, eyelashes of different lengths are taken, depending on the place of adhesion and the desired image. In the middle of the eyelid, short to medium lashes look good, which complement the natural volume. Long ones extend to the outer corners of the eyes to create a deep look. It is very important to achieve a natural look, as going over with long eyelashes will create a "doll effect". As for the color, it all depends on the imagination. Eyelashes of both natural tones (black, brown) and hairs of various shades can be used. You can buy eyelashes at any mall or cosmetics store, and you should not buy a cheap product that can negatively affect your eyes. They are sold both individually and in bundles. Ardell, Kodi, Salon Perfect eyelashes are suitable for home extension.

Degreaser for eyelash extensions

Before the eyelash extension procedure, you must definitely use a degreaser or primer. Degreasing with special products helps to cleanse the skin around the eyes and eyelashes from traces of cosmetics, impurities and grease.

This procedure is one of the stages in the eyelash extension scheme, it helps the glue to dry faster. In no case should you skip this stage! The degreaser helps to qualitatively prepare a real eyelash for extension. The tool will open pores, scales, so that the glue penetrates better into the structure of the eyelashes, and adhesion improves.

If you have too oily skin around the eyelids, then you should treat not only the eyelashes, but also the movable eyelid with a degreaser. After treating the eyelashes with a primer, at least 20 minutes should pass, only then you can start building.

Degreasers Lovely, Lidan, Crystal are suitable at home.

Selection of tools for home eyelash extension

In the process of home eyelash extension, you cannot do without additional improvised tools, such as a protective tape on the lower eyelashes, special tweezers, an eyelash tray, and a jade stone. The special tape will help protect the lower lashes during the upper lash extension. All delicate work is done with tweezers. Ordinary eyebrow tweezers will not work here, you need a special one with curved edges, which often comes with eyelashes. The tray is needed in order to be able to collect eyelashes that have not adhered well. Such a device is very practical, since quite a lot of improvised materials are needed during work. The eyelashes from the tray are suitable for re-adhesion. The jade stone has a low temperature, with its help professionals cool the glue for eyelash extension. Low temperatures have a beneficial effect on the quality of the substance and reduce its consumption.

The main types of eyelash extension at home

When extending eyelashes, different technologies can be used that will create the required volume and length of artificial eyelashes. At home and professional salons, three main technologies are used: eyelash, beam and classic building.

Lash extension of eyelashes by the Japanese method

Extension of 3d eyelashes

Also known as Japanese or 3D, eyelash extensions are considered the most popular. This method is distinguished by the technical features of the procedure, during which the artificial eyelashes are attached to the main ones one by one with a special glue, thus creating a natural effect. The adhesions are not visible, so the eyelashes look natural. The procedure is quite painstaking, therefore it takes several hours of time. The advantage of this method is that with natural loss of living eyelashes, several extended hairs also fall out, without disturbing the total volume and without creating the effect of thinned eyelashes. After the lash extension procedure, it will be possible to enjoy artificial eyelashes for up to 3 months, while using mascara and other types of cosmetics. Correction should be done every three to four weeks.

At home, Japanese eyelash extensions are technically challenging. The big difficulty lies in the fact that in salons it is done with closed eyes. With self-extension, the eyes will be open and watery. If you are ready to take risks and are confident in your abilities, then you need to perform the work in this order:

  • First, degrease the eyelashes and eyelids.
  • Then we grab the eyelash with tweezers, dip it in glue and carefully glue it onto a natural hair. The cilia should be immediately trimmed and lifted with tweezers.
  • We glue the next eyelash away from the previous one so that they do not stick together.
  • Thus, the hairs are glued along the entire lash line, more eyelashes can be added at the outer corners.
  • When the glue has dried, we begin to re-stick the artificial eyelashes on the natural ones so that for each of our own there are 2-3 artificial ones.
  • If the hairs accidentally stick together - not a problem, they can be separated with a toothpick. In such cases, it is strictly forbidden to use a needle or pin, so as not to injure the eye.

At home, this procedure can take several hours, after which a slight reddening of the eyes is possible. After home extension, it is not recommended to cry or wet your eyes for at least a couple of hours, otherwise the glue will not harden well. You can then remove such eyelashes yourself, you just need to use a remover.

Bundle eyelash extension with your own hands

Bundle eyelash extension

Bundle extensions (Hollywood extensions) are considered a more traditional and simplified method, during which whole bundles of fine hairs are glued to the eyelashes. The effect is very striking, but short-lived. Therefore, beam extensions are used before holidays or parties. Adhesion occurs in two ways: nodular and non-nodular. Nodular eyelashes are collected in a bundle and are easier to fix to the eyelid on the growth line, while adhesions are noticeable. The nodules are attached to the eyelids or natural lashes for a more natural look. Beam extension gives the eyelids a little weight, and the advantages of such a procedure include low cost and minimal time costs.

When self-building at home, we act according to the following scheme:

  1. We clean the eyelids and eyelashes from traces of cosmetics with a special degreaser.
  2. Carefully take a bunch of eyelashes with tweezers, dip it into glue with the edge and "sit" on your eyelashes.
  3. While the glue is drying, you can adjust the position and height of the beam with tweezers.
  4. After a couple of seconds, we perform the same manipulations with the following beams, the total number of which can vary from 15 to 24 per eye.

Such a procedure at home takes a little time, even a beginner can handle it.

Classic eyelash extension at home

With this procedure, a complete eyelash extension occurs, during which the hairs are added piece by piece at a distance of up to 1 mm from the root zone. At the end of the extension, the eyelashes look natural, there is no discomfort when closing them up, since the length of the artificial eyelashes exceeds the length of natural ones by no more than 30%.

The advantages of such a build-up:

  • Small amount of time;
  • Lasting effect;
  • The ability to change the shape of the eyes;
  • No contraindications.

With classic extension, the same techniques are used as with Japanese, so it is often carried out at home. The only difference is that one artificial one is glued to each eyelash, and not 2-3, as with the volumetric "Japanese".
