Since the flounder is a flat fish, it comes to readiness pretty quickly, in just five minutes! Therefore, if you need to cook a quick, yet tasty, healthy and satisfying dinner, then flounder will be the most excellent option.

You can buy flounder in stores, a whole fresh carcass, or you can frozen semi-peeled. If the fish is whole, then you will first have to pre-prepare it, so take into account the additional time for this process. Usually preparatory work with fish lasts from 5 to 20 minutes. It depends on your culinary skills.

How to clean a flounder?

Since the flounder is not a standard fish, its cleaning is also not quite ordinary. So, define the fish with the light side up. Use culinary scissors or a regular sharp knife to cut off the head, rip open the belly and scrub the insides. Then rinse it thoroughly under running water. Remove the tail, and you can trim off the fins on both sides if you like. But if you like crunching fried fins, then leave them intact.

After doing all the above manipulations, carefully remove the gray-black skin from the fish, because during frying, it gives off an unpleasant odor and has a bitter taste. Now the fish is properly prepared, you can choose the desired recipe and start frying.

1. If your flounder is frozen, just defrost it at room temperature, wash, cut into pieces and start cooking. Usually frozen specimens are sold already fully prepared for cooking. If you have a fresh or chilled carcass, then do all the preparatory processes with it, which are outlined above.

2. Place the pan on the stove. Pour in vegetable oil and heat well. When the frying pan is hot, and strong heat and smoke will go from it, then you can start frying the fish. Place the fish pieces in a skillet, set the temperature high, sprinkle with fish seasoning, pepper and salt. Cook the fish on one side for literally 3 minutes. Then turn it over and cook for the same amount of time. Since flounder is a flat fish, it cooks very quickly. Do not overexpose it in the pan for a very long time, otherwise it will begin to burn.
